- Sale and purchase of licensed premises
- Leasing of licensed premises
- Application for new liquor licences
- All other liquor & gaming applications
- Litigation involving licensed premises
Peter Grope is literally a "doyen" of Adelaide liquor & gaming lawyers, having practised in the area for some 30 years; as well as having (and continuing to have) extensive hotel and gaming interests of his own. Peter can therefore offer our clients a unique value proposition in the area of liquor and gaming, as firstly, a highly experienced general commercial lawyer and secondly, an expert in the area of gaming & liquor law, and thirdly, extensive business experience in the hotel industry.
Mark Hamilton has also had an extensive long term involvement with liquor and gaming matters dating back over the last 30 years, with an accent on applications for new liquor licences, including tested matters; applications to vary conditions of licences and commercial disputes involving liquor and gaming licences and premises. Mark also has extensive experience in the Australian wine industry and retail liquor businesses.
Recently, Mark Hamilton, ably supported by litigation partner, Tonia Karagiannis, acted for a joint venture which owns the freehold of the Planet Nightclub in Pirie Street, Adelaide, in a dispute over liquor and gaming licence entitlements with a former lessee associated high profile group of former high profile individuals and sportsmen.
Grope Hamilton Lawyers successfully obtained a declaration that the liquor and gaming licences were the property of the joint venture; and an order that the defendants pay the costs of the action in the matter which went all the way to the High Court of Australia.
