Experience and areas of specialisation

John joined Grope Hamilton Lawyers in 1999 after having worked as a sole practitioner for a number of years. He has experience in a wide range of areas and now focuses primarily on general commercial advisory work including the drafting, negotiating and implementation of commercial contracts for both public and private entities. He has also been involved in the documentation and completion of business and asset sales, purchases and related matters.

In the field of commercial property, John has been involved in the documentation of private sector transactions including shopping centre sales, commercial leasing, sale and lease-back of premises and public sector transactions including commercial building sales by public tender and industrial estate subdivisions.

John’s commercial property work regularly involves preparation of contract and tender documents, advice and assistance with due diligence and disclosures, and review and advice on marketing material.

He also practices in the field of Wills and Estates, including probate and estate applications, administration of deceased estates and preparation of Wills and Enduring Powers.

Personal interests

John greatly enjoys mountain bike riding and spending time with his family. In his spare time he likes to drink wine, listen to music and is also a keen cricket follower. John has probably ridden a bike around New Zealand more than any other living or departed soul.
